Hi everyone, my name is Emma and I am the newest addition to the Real Fitness Training coaching team. I have worked in the fitness industry for 4 years now, having owned and operated two PT businesses. Being an older member of the team I have formed the philosophy that everyone is an individual, and thus has his or her own fitness and health journey. It’s not a ‘one size fits all’ community. My purpose is to help you along your journey in the best way I can
So I will let you know a little about me, as I suppose I am not what your usual PT cardboard cutout looks like.
I believe that I was born with an adventurous spirit and curiosity for life and the environment. From the age of 5 I have been involved in many sports and other activities, ranging from swimming, netball, tennis, softball, running, bicycle riding, cricket, soccer, AFL, squash, and athletics though to horse riding competitions, skydiving, Crossfit and recently hiking to the Everest Base Camp in Nepal.
Due to my passion for helping people and personal challenges, I joined the NSW Police Force at 18. Personal challenges – what an understatement!
Being a determined and independent individual, I worked in locations all around the State in various duties (operational, training and executive), and broke through some tough glass ceilings. I finally retired at the rank of Inspector.
During my police career I discovered the importance of eating well and keeping the mind and body as healthy as possible. Sports, yoga and motorbike riding were some great tools I used. I learnt from professionals how to feed my body the nutrition it required, not necessarily what it wanted. To test this theory, at the age of 36 I committed to training for a bodybuilding competition. What an amazing rollercoaster ride that was! But it was a valuable insight as to how your body (and mind) adapts to what it is fed and trained.
I also completed a number of university tertiary courses and Australian Army Officer training at the Royal Military College, Duntroon whilst working concurrently in the police. The Army exposed me to new challenges, enabling me to endure physical and mental exhaustion in various demanding terrains.
Having retired from government service as the result of PTSD, despite using the tools available to me, I am all too aware of the toll life can take on your mind and body. As such, I have come full circle and combined my passion for helping people with my love of physical activity. Real Fitness Training is the perfect holistic environment for this to occur. Mind – Body – Spirit – independent entities that are totally interdependent.
I am a qualified PT, Crossfit Level 1 Trainer, and Crossfit Kids Trainer, plus have qualifications in Kettlebells and boxing. Besides this training, I am still growing as a coach in the fitness industry and I am keen to learn new skills and knowledge every day.
As I approach the big five zero (years old), it is now my mission, through Real Fitness Training, to use what I know and learn to help you be the healthiest and happiest you can be…. because its your journey!!
Cheers, Coach Emma
